THE ARTIST

Narcisse Henocque , (Mont Saint Aignan 1879 – Rouen 1952)

Narcisse Hénocque is a French Neo-Impressionist painter affiliated with the Rouen School, an artistic movement born in Normandy and recognized for its wealth of vibrant and luminous landscapes.

Heir to Impressionism, Hénocque transcends classical codes by developing a more personal and expressive approach.

His works highlight the Normandy landscapes: the banks of the Seine, the picturesque villages, the port scenes and the changing lights of Rouen and its surroundings.

With a rich palette and structured touches, he captures the soul of these places, while infusing them with a sensitivity specific to Neo-Impressionism.

His favourite subjects were landscapes, banks of the Seine, seascapes and snowy landscapes; he also painted some portraits and still lifes.

A great colorist, his palette highlights his sensitivity and reveals great harmony in the choice of his colors.

His paintings, often marked by contrast and depth, continue to attract the eye of collectors and art lovers looking for authentic works full of character.
